Author Biography


Jack Gantos the author of A Hole in My Life was born in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. In his early life Jack was an abstract child who was place in the reading group for slow readers, and like to pretend his clothes were on fire for fun.
His mom was photographer and his dad a construction adviser. Because of his father’s line or work when at the age of seven his family moved to Barbados. He received his first journal because his older sister had been given one by their mother. Jack wanted to be like his older sister, so he got a journal as well. In combination with his journal and the new school in Barbados which made learning fun for Jack. He was opened to the world of reading and writing. Jack decides he wanted to be a writer in high school. In an attempt to make money for collage Jack attempted to sail one ton in return for ten thousand dollars! He was later caught and caught and thrown in prison! This would later give him the inspiration for A Hole in My Life.
Jack later went to Emerson College and out of college he began to write children books. After receiving his first rejection letter Jack began to write thing around him and thing that mattered to him and began his life as a writer.
